Twin/multiple pregnancy

March of Dimes indicates that a multiple pregnancy means being pregnant with one or more babies. It usually occurs when more than one egg is fertilized, and can happen when one egg is fertilized and then splits into 2.  When two separate eggs are fertilized by two separate sperm, the babies are called fraternal twins. They don’t share the same genes and are no more alike than any siblings from different pregnancies with the same parents.

Twin or multiple pregnancies mean more than one baby is growing at the same time. These can happen naturally or with fertility treatments. These pregnancies are exciting but may need more attention. With good care, many people deliver healthy babies and have joyful experiences.
